Eyra is taking part in the Winter Court’s bride selection – but not to win the heart of one of the three fae princes. She's there to bring them down.

As a fire girl, Eyra despises all winter elves and the cold they’ve brought to her land. So when she unexpectedly receives an invitation to the selection ceremony for the three winter princes, she decides to attend – not to catch the heir’s eye, but to infiltrate the castle and steal the Ice Crystal, the source of the royal family’s power.

But as she pretends to be interested in the princes, a weakness in her plan becomes clear: more than one of them is getting dangerously close to her heart.

A romantic high fantasy filled with fire spirits, winter elves, dragons, and fae.

Eyra didn't know why she had received this invitation from the royal family. But she didn't care. All that mattered was the opportunity it presented her. She would go to this ball and steal the ice crystal. The royal family's superiority was based on this stone. The amount of magic it provided their enemies made them invincible. If she could steal it, the rebels might have a chance to defeat the winter elves and end the long winter.

“I hate to interrupt your little, albeit extremely entertaining, staring contest with my brother. However, you seem to be the only dance partner in the hall with whom I can have a conversation that goes beyond the weather.”
Eyra looked into Saul's boyish face, which still bore a vague smile. What was he doing? There were women all over the dance floor, so why did he come to her of all people? “Surely the other sun elves here have other topics of conversation to offer.”
“Nevertheless, I am here with you. So?”
She smiled openly at the prince. “I do have a few comments about the weather, though. For example, that it's a little too cold.”
“Movement should help,” he replied cheerfully. His icy hand reached for hers to escort her, and immediately withdrew. “Your skin is glowing.”
“And you are a real ice cube.”
The corners of Saul’s mouth turned up even more. “I had a feeling this evening would be entertaining.”

Lazar looked at her darkly. “Why are you really here?”
Eyra straightened up. “I received an invitation and was curious. I never in my life expected to be chosen by Prince Saul.”
His eyes flashed. “What makes you think Saul chose you?”
His question made her pause. “Because he danced with me that evening, while you stood in the corner, demonstratively ignoring the countless women without dance partners.”
“Perhaps I was too busy watching you.”
He had kept an eye on her, that was true, but it was probably more because of his displeasure at the presence of a fire creature. “So you choose your candidates with dark looks? Exciting."

“I knew you'd cause trouble.” Noah leaned against the wall, arms and legs crossed. He had changed and was now wearing light linen pants and a breezy shirt.
Since Eyra had no better idea how to explain her presence here, she took a step toward him. “To be honest, I was looking for you.” The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, so much did she dislike these words.
He raised an eyebrow. “Really?”
“Really,” she whispered promisingly.
Noah closed the last distance between them and slid his hand over her waist. Eyra held her breath in disgust but didn't move. “I don't know what you were looking for here,” he whispered in her ear. “But I can say with absolute certainty that you didn't want to come to me. And as appealing as I find fire creatures, I much prefer an evening companion who has a genuine interest in me.”
